Creme De Menthe
Fresh mint leaves
Green food coloring,
up to 3 drops
Stain vodka through cheesecloth or a coffee filter and discard mint.
Make a syrup of the sugar and water by bringing the mixture to a boil, boiling for 30 minutes, and then letting it cool. Add syrup to the mint-flavored vodka, add peppermint and coloring and stir.
If liqueur is not clear, you may want to filter it a second time. You may also want to omit the green food coloring. Liqueur will keep for a year on the pantry shelf.
Crush mint leaves in a mortar and pestle or place them between a tablespoon and a teaspoon and macerate. Place crushed leaves in a sterilized glass jar and pour vodka over them. Cover and let sit for 10 days.
Recipe doesn't state how much vodka, but assume it's one average size bottle.
