Mulled Apple or Pear Cider Medieval

    2.00 qt Fresh apple cider or pear
    0.25 ts Nutmeg
    0.13 ts Thyme
    0.50 ts Ginger powder
    7.00 ea Sticks cinnamon
    1.00 tb Finely crushed sweet basil

In a large enameled pot, gently simmer the juice with the spices for 7 minutes. Break the cinnamon sticks, placing a portion in each tankard or chalice or glass. Pour on warmed cider.
