Apple Cream Pie

Author/Submitted by: Let Them Eat Cake by Virginia N. White.
Servings: 8
Categories: Cream-Pie / Desserts / Pies & Pastries

Ingredients:
1  9 inch  pie crust, uncooked
5  cups  apple, peeled and sliced
1/2  cup  granulated sugar
1/2  teaspoon  ground cinnamon
1  cup  skim milk
1/2  teaspoon  vanilla extract
1 1/2  tablespoons  flour
1 1/2  tablespoons  cornstarch

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400F. Plave the pie shell in a pie plate. Line the thinly sliced apples around the pie shell. Place them close together but not on top of one another. Beat the sugar, cinnamon, skim milk, and vanilla together until there are no lumps. Take 4 Tablespoons of the milk mixture and stir into the combined flour and cornstarch to make a paste. Stir the paste back into the milk mixture. Pour this mixture over the apples. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Serves 8. NOTES : This pie tastes far richer than it actually is. It is an easy and much healthier way to make an apple pie.
