Blueberry Cake (Pat Stockett)

1/4  cup  Soft butter
3/4  cup  Sugar
1 1/4  cups  Flour
1 1/2  teaspoons  Baking powder
1/2  cup  Milk
1/4  teaspoon  Salt
1    Egg
2  cups  Floured blueberries (frozen or fresh)

---Hard Sauce---
1/2  cup  Soft butter
2  cups  Sugar
  pinch  Salt
1/2  teaspoon  Vanilla
1    Egg

---Lemon Sauce---
3/4  cup  Sugar
1  tablespoon  Butter
2  cups  Boiling water
3  tablespoons  Cornstarch, moistened with a little cool water
2    Egg yolks, beaten
    Juice and grated rind of one lemon

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar, add egg, beat well then add flour, salt, baking powder, add milk and mix. Fold in floured berries. Bake in an 8" sq pan 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm with hard sauce or lemon sauce.

2. Hard Sauce: Beat sugar and butter will, then add whole egg and bet until fluffy. Add vanilla.

3. Lemon Sauce: Mix and cook until thick, stirring constantly.
