Brown Stone Front Cake

2  ounces  Unsweetened chocolate
1  tablespoon  Baking soda
1  cup  Boiling water
1/2  cup  Butter or margarine
2  cups  Brown sugar
2    Eggs, separate out yolks
1/2  cup  Milk, sour
2 1/2  cups  Flour
1  tablespoon  Baking powder
1/4  teaspoon  Salt
1/2  teaspoon  Vanilla

Melt chocolate and baking soda in water. Cream together the butter and sugar, add slightly beaten egg yolks and sour milk and mix. Combine flour, baking powder and salt, add to the batter and beat for one minute until blended. Add dissolved chocolate and vanilla and stir. Beat egg whites until stiff, and fold them into batter. Pour batter into greased 2 quart pyrex oblong baking dish and bake at 300 degrees for 50 minutes or until cake tests done.
