Cherry Chocolate Cake Untried
Maraschino cherry juice
Chopped maraschino cherries
Several drops red food
Frosting: 1 oz bitter chocolate 1/2 c butter 3 c sifted powdered
sugar 1/4 c maraschino cherry juice 1/2 c chopped maraschino cherries
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 9" pans. Melt
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, soda, and salt. Make a well in
center of mixture. Drop in shortening, milk, cherry juice, and eggs.
Blend on low, then beat 2 mins on mdm. Add chocolate, cherries, and
coloring. Beat 1 min. Pour into pans. Bake 25-30 mins. Cool in pans
10 mins, then turn out on rack and cool completely.
Frosting: Melt chocolate. In a sm bowl, cream butter. Add sugar and
cherry juice. Beat until smooth. Stir in chocolate and cherries.
