Cherry Cobbler

Ingredients:
5  c  Cherries, tart; red; pitted
    Canned or frozen
2 1/2  tb  Lemon juice
1/3  c  Sugar, white
1/3  c  Sugar, brown; packed
2 1/2  tb  Cornstarch
1  t  Cinnamon, ground
1/4  ts  Nutmeg, ground

Directions:
___----------------------------TOPPING------------------------------- 1 c Flour; all purpose 1 tb Sugar; white 1 ts Baking powder 1/4 ts Salt 2 tb Butter or margarine 1/3 c Milk; to 1/2 cup Drain cherries, reserving 1/4 cup juice; discard remaining juice. Combine cherries and lemon juice; set aside. In a saucepan, combime sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg; stir in reserved cherry juice. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally; boil 2 minutes. Add cherries; pour into a greased 8 inch square baking pan. For Topping: Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in enough milk to moisten. Drop by tablespoonfuls over cherries. Bake at 450F for 10 to 13 minutes or until golden brown.
