Christmas Cutout Cookies (marge Clark)

Author/Submitted by:
Servings: 4
Categories: Christmas / Cookies / Desserts / Holidays

Ingredients:
    This seems a slightly less
    Fragile dough than some I
    Have tried
And will roll out very thin,
    If you wish.

Directions:
1/2 c butter, softened 3/4 c sugar 1 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 egg 1 1/2 c flour 1 tsp baking powder Dash salt Glaze paint: Powdered sugar Milk Vanilla Cream butter well. Add sugar and cream. Beat in vanilla and egg until smooth. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to batter and beat just until smooth. Wrap in wax paper and CHILL VERY WELL (OVERNIGHT.) Bake cutouts at 375 degrees for 6-8 mins, til barely golden. Mix a very thin glaze by combining powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. "Paint" the cooled cookies and decorate while glaze is still wet with sprinkles, colored sugar, chopped nuts, cherries, etc.
