Cream Cheese Brownies With Chocolate Frosting

German sweet chocolate 3

Cream cheese,
softened

Chopped nuts 1/2

powdered sugar 1
ounce
German chocolate squares,
melted and cooled

tablespoon
butter 1 1/2
cups
powdered sugar 2
tablespoons
milk
Directions: 1.
In a small, heavy saucepan, melt the chocolate and 3 Tbsp butter over low heat, stirring occasionally. Let cool.

For the cream cheese layer, in a small mixer bowl, beat together the cream cheese and 2 Tbsp butter till combined. Add the 1/4 c sugar, 1 Tbsp flour, 1 egg and 1/2 tsp vanilla till combined. Set aside.

For chocolate layer, in another mixer bowl, beat together the 3/4 c sugar and 2 eggs. Beat in the melted and cooled chocolate, the 1 tsp vanilla and almond extract. Add the 1/2 c flour, baking powder and salt, beating mixture just till combined. Stir in the nuts.

In a greased 9x9x2" baking pan, spread half of the chocolate mixture. Evenly spoon all the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate layer, spreading evenly. Dollop remaining chocolate mixture over top and swirl with a knife.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or till brownies test done. Cool in pan on wire rack.

Prepare frosting, if desired. Frost cooled brownies. Store, covered, in the refrigerator.

Chocolate Frosting: In a mixer bowl, beat together 1/2 c powdered sugar, the cooled chocolate and butter till smooth. Beat in 1 1/2 c powdered sugar and enough milk to make a spreadable frosting.
