Dream Bar Cookies
My favorite - especially at
Crust: Topping: 2 c margarine 5 eggs 2 tsp
salt 3 c brown sugar 2 c brown sugar 3 tsp vanilla 4 c flour 6 T
flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 pkg (14 oz) grated coconut 2 c chopped
pecans or walnuts
Combine shortening and salt. Add and blend brown sugar and flour, as
if for pie crust.
Spread mixture in a greased jelly roll pann (cookie sheet with rim)
and bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare the topping:
Beat eggs until foamy. Add brown sugar, and beat again. Add flour,
coconut, baking powder and pecans.
Spread over hot baked mixture and return immediately to the oven.
Bake 25 minutes longer.
Cool and cut into diamond shapes or rectangles.
Makes 2 pans.
