Light Brown Sugar
pieces or chips
or english walnuts (see notes)
Melt butter and brown sugar together over medium heat (stirring constantly) to 290 degrees. Cook at 290 until it just starts to go above it. Remove from heat and very quickly pour over nuts and spread out. Lay broken pieces of chocolate, or chips, on top and as it melts spread over toffee mixture. Break into pieces when cool.
Butter bottom of cookie sheet well; sprinkle chopped nuts on it.
Use enough pecans or walnuts to cover the bottom of a cookie sheet.
