Fruit-filled Meringue Cups

Ingredients:
    marilyn sultar (fjvs25a)
3    egg whites
1  pn  salt
3/4  c  sugar
1  tb  lemon juice
6    canned peach, or pear halves
6  ts  raspberry preserves
1/4  c  walnuts, chopped

Directions:
Beat egg whites with salt till fluffy. Add sugar slowly. Add lemon juice with last of sugar & beat until smooth. Place well-drained peach or pear halves on an ungreased baking sheet; hollow-side up. Place teaspoon of preserves in each hollow. Cover each half with meringue. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 275 F for 1 hour or until lightly browned. Serve hot or cold. By "Lloyd A.
