Marble Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

8  ounces  Cream cheese, softened
1 1/2  cups  Sugar, divided
1    Egg, slightly beaten
1/8  teaspoon  Salt
6  ounces  Semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2  cups  All-purpose flour
1  teaspoon  Baking soda
1/2  teaspoon  Salt
1/4  cup  Cocoa
1  cup  Water
1/2  cup  Vegetable oil
1  tablespoon  Vinegar
1  teaspoon  Vanilla extract

1. Combine cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar; beat until smooth. Add egg, 1/8 teaspoon salt, and chocolate chips, stirring well. Set aside.

2. Combine flour, remaining 1 cup sugar, baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and cocoa; stir until blended. Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla; stir until batter is smooth. Spoon batter into paper-lined muffin pans, filling half-full. Spoon a tablespoonsful of cream cheese mixture into center of each cupcake. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes or until cupcakes test done. Yield: 18 cupcakes.
