Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients:
1  cup  raisins
1  cup  water
3/4  cup  margarine
1 1/2  cups  sugar
2    eggs
1  teaspoon  vanilla
2 1/2  cups  flour
1/2  teaspoon  baking powder
1  teaspoon  soda
1  teaspoon  salt
1  teaspoon  cinnamon
1/2  teaspoon  cloves
2  cups  rolled oats
1/2  cup  nuts, chopped

Directions:
Simmer raisins and water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump, 20 to 30 minutes. Drain raisin liquid in measuring cup, add enough water to make 1/2 cup. Mix margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid. Mix flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices; blend in. Add oats, nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonful about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Makes 7 dozen.
