Orange Cream Chips

2 1/2  c  Flour
1/2  ts  Salt
1  c  Shortening
1  c  Sugar
3  oz  Cream cheese, softened
2    Eggs
2  ts  Orange juice
1  t  Orange rind, grated
6  oz  Semisweet chocolate pieces
    -----ORANGE ICING-----
2  c  Confectioner's sugar, sifted
3  oz  Cream cheese, softened
1  t  Orange juice
1  t  Orange rind

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Sift flour and salt onto wax paper. Beat shortening, sugar, and cream cheese in bowl until mixed. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add juice and rind. Blend in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on prepared sheets. Bake in 350 oven for 12 minutes, or until lightly browned around edges. Cool on rack. Prepare icing: Gradually beat sugar into cheese until well blended; stir in juice and rind. Spread cookie tops with icing, garnishing with thin strips of orange rind if desired.
