Sour Cream Cookies (Edieth Cook)
1 c sugar 1/2 c shortening 1/4 c butter 1 egg 1 t vanilla 2 3/4 c
flour 1 t baking powder 1/2 t salt 1/4 t nutmeg...if desired 1/2 c
sour cream sugar
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Cream the sugar, shortening, and butter. Add the egg and vanilla, and mix well. Add the rest of the ingredients except sugar. Pick up 1 Tbsp dough and roll into a ball. Mash down with the bottom of a glass that has been dipped into the sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 6-8 minutes. Cookies are not brown just barely brown around the edges.
Or dough could be rolled on a lightly floured cloth and cut into desired shapes. Nutmeg, if desired, could be sprinkled on top.
