Yummy Chocolate Cake (Gary Springer)

Ingredients:
2  cups  Sugar
1 3/4  cups  Flour
1  tablespoon  Baking soda
1/2  teaspoon  Baking powder
1  teaspoon  Salt
3/4  cup  Boiling water
4  ounces  Bitter chocolate
1/2  cup  Shortening
3/4  cup  Buttermilk
2    Eggs
1  teaspoon  Vanilla

--Frosting--
2  ounces  Bitter chocolate
2  tablespoons  Butter
2  cups  Powdered sugar
1/2  teaspoon  Vanilla
    Salt, to taste
    Evaporated milk, as needed

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugar, flour, soda, baking powder, and salt. Pour boiling water over chocolate squares to melt. Add with shortening and buttermilk to flour mixture. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Bake in a 9x13x2" pan for 28-30 mins or somewhat less for 2 round layers. This cake is extremely moist when slightly under done. Use the stated baking time as a general guideline and test with a pick.

2. Frosting: Melt chocolate. Mix with butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and evaporated milk until it's a frosting consistency.
