Author/Submitted by:
Servings: 4
Categories: Cookies / Desserts

Ingredients:
3  cups  flour
1 1/2  cups  sugar
2  teaspoons  baking powder
  pinch  salt
1  cup  butter
2  large  eggs, beaten
1  teaspoon  vanilla
    colored sugar, optional

Directions:
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together. Work the butter in with a pastry blender until the texture is coarse like corn meal. Mix eggs and vanilla and add to the rest. Roll out in a sheet about 1/4 inch thick, perhaps a little less, and cut with cookie cutters. Bake about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire racks. If desired, sprinkle the tops of the cookies with colored sugar before baking.
