Unsalted Butter,
softened

Shortening 1
Egg 1 1/2
Teaspoons
Almond Extract 1
Teaspoon
Vanilla Extract 2 1/2
Cups
Flour 1
Teaspoon
Salt 1/2
Teaspoon
Red Food Coloring
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400.
Mix first 6 ingredients. Add the flour and salt. Divide the dough into
2 bowls. Add red color to 1/2 of dough.
Make candy canes:
a) Roll ~a tablespoon of red dough and white dough into a long,thin strip
(not too thin or it will break) (roll on a floured board and put flour
on your hands for rolling)
b) Lay red and white strip side-by-side
c) Form candy cane by twisting rolls together and forming hook at one end.
d) Bake for 9 minutes on a ungreased cookie sheet.
Makes 22 cookies.
