Chocolate Nut Squares

Ingredients:
1  cup  packed brown sugar
1  cup  margarine or butter, softened
1 1/2  teaspoons  vanilla
1    egg
2  cups  all-purpose flour
1/2  cup  light corn syrup
2  tablespoons  margarine or butter
1  package  semisweet, (12 ounces)
    chocolate chips
1  can  salted mixed nuts, (12 ounces)

Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix brown sugar, 1 cup margarine, the vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour. Spread evenly in bottom of ungreased rectangular pan, 13 X 9 X 2 inches. Bake until light brown, 20 to 22 minutes. Cool 20 minutes. Heat corn syrup, 2 tablespoons margarine and the chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly, until chips are melted. Cool 20 minutes. Spread chocolate mixture over layer in pan. Sprinkle with nuts; gently press into chocolate. Refrigerate uncovered until chocolate is firm, about 2 hours. Cut into 1-1/2-inch squares. 48 BARS.
