Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake

Ingredients:
Shortcake: 2

All-purpose flour 1/2
c
Sugar 1/3
c
Unsweetened cocoa 3
ts
Baking powder 1/4
ts
Salt 1/2
c
Butter 1
c
Milk 2
tb
Sugar
Filling: 5
c
Fresh strawberries 1/2
c
Sugar 1

Whipping cream, -- whipped
With: 2
tb
Sugar -- until stiff,
Glossy 1/2
c
Premade fudge sauce -- for
Drizzling on top
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400. Grease 2 round cake pans. In a large bowl, mix
together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter
until mixture is crumbly. Stir in milk just until moistened. You may
not need all of the milk. Spread in greased cake pans. Sprinkle 2
tablespoons sugar over batter. Bake 15-20 minutes or until cake
begins to pull away from sides of pan. Cool 15 minutes. Remove form
pans. Cool completely. Set aside a few whole berries for garnish.
Halve remaining berries lengthwise. Mix together halved berries and
sugar. Place 1 shortcake, bottom side up, on serving plate. Top with
half the berries and half the whipped cream. Place second shortcake
on top, right side up. Top with remaining berries and whipped cream.
Drizzle with fudge sauce and garnish around outside edge with whole
berries.
