Ingredients: 1
cup
Raisins 2
cups
Water 2
cups
Sugar 2/3
cup
Shortening 1
tablespoon
Baking soda 2
teaspoons
Baking powder 4
cups
White flour 1/2
teaspoon
Cinnamon 1 1/2
teaspoons
Allspice 1
tablespoon
Cloves 1
cup
Mixed fruit 1
cup
Currants
Directions: 1.
In a pot, combine the first four ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 minute. Set aside to cool.

Sift together dry ingredients. Make a well in the centre & fold in the boiled ingredients. Mix well. Bake at 300F for 60 minutes. Test to see if done all the way through. If not, return to oven for a few more minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
