Old Herefordshire Cider Cake

Ingredients:
8  oz  Flour
4  oz  Sugar
1/4  lb  Butter
2  ea  Eggs
1/2  ea  Grated nutmeg
1    Teacup of cider
1  ea  Level Tspn baking soda

Directions:
Beat the butter and sugar into a cream. . Add the eggs, well beaten, then the 4 oz of flour sifted with the baking soda and nutmeg. . Pour over all the cider, beaten to a froth. Mix thoroughly. . Stir in remainder of the flour and mix well together. . Bake in a shallow, well-greased tin, for 45 minutes in a moderate oven.
