Soft Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

3/4  cup  Sifted flour
1/4  teaspoon  Salt
1/4  teaspoon  Baking soda
1/2  teaspoon  Cinnamon
1/4  teaspoon  Cloves
1/4  cup  Chopped nuts
1/2  cup  Raisins, chopped
1/3  cup  Shortening
1/2  cup  Sugar
1    Egg
3/4  cup  Rolled oats
3  tablespoons  Milk
1  tablespoon  White vinegar

1. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nuts, and raisins. Set aside.

2. Combine shortening and sugar, and cream well. Beat in egg. Stir in rolled oats.

3. Combine milk and white vinegar in small cup.

4. Add 1/2 of the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, beat well. Add milk mixture to creamed mixture. Beat well. Add remainder of flour, cream well. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheets by rounded teaspoonfuls. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
