Apple-Cranberry Pie With Brown Sugar Topping

Ingredients:

----pie-----
    pastry for single crust pie
5    golden delicious apples
1  tablespoon  lemon juice
1  cup  cranberries, picked over
3  tablespoons  flour
1/2  cup  granulated sugar
1  teaspoon  ground cinnamon
1/2  teaspoon  ground nutmeg

-----topping-----
3/4  cup  dark brown sugar
1 1/2  tablespoons  flour
2  tablespoons  butter, softened
1  teaspoon  cinnamon

Directions:
1. To prepare the pie: Spray a 9-inch pie pan with a nonstick cooking spray. Prepare the pastry shell and fit into the pan.

2. Peel the apples, core and slice thinly. Toss with the lemon juice. Combine with the cranberries, flour, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pile into the pastry shell.

3. To prepare the topping: Combine the brown sugar, flour, butter and cinnamon to form large crumbs. Sprinkle over the top of the pie.

4. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 350-degree oven 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender. Cool on a rack. The pie can be served with sweetened whipped cream or ice cream.
