Skillet Balls

Ingredients:
1/2  c  Margarine, softened
3/4  c  Sugar
2    Eggs
1  pk  Dates, (7oz) chopped fine
1  c  Pecans, chopped fine
3  c  Rice Krispies
1  tb  Vanilla
1/2  ts  Salt
1 1/2  c  Flaked sweetened coconut

Directions:
Combine the softened margarine, sugar and eggs; beat well. Add chopped dates. Cook this mixture in a heavy skillet until slightly thickened, between 10 and 20 minutes on low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Remove from heat; add nuts, cereal, vanilla and salt. Mix well; cool. Make small balls of the cooked mixture no larger than walnuts. Roll the balls in coconut until covered. Makes about 4 dozen.
